Keeping with the theme we’ve been on lately, “Cozy Fall.” I’m going to share a yummy, hearty recipe I love to make on chilly days. Cajun Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo! Disclaimer; if you have kids or are a family who doesn’t like spice, this is a tad spicy. I am typically not a fan of spice, so sometimes I add sour cream to mine to tone it down. My southern friends are probably rolling their eyes at me but, I can’t help the way I am. 😉
It’s a super simple, one pan meal and makes a lot for left overs. I cheat a bit and use premixed Cajun seasoning, although you could find a recipe for a good seasoning mix online. The hardest part of this meal is chopping the veggies, and making the roux (which isn’t that hard at all.) This is not a typical or traditional New Orleans gumbo, but it’s pretty tasty if this, Northern-born-and-raised gal can say so herself. 😉 If you follow me on Instagram, I go through the process step by step in stories. Give it a chance and as always, tag me if you make it for yourself!
Until next time,
