Two holiday series posts in one week?! WHAT WHATTTT. I told you I was going to get caught up 😉 Today, I’m showing you how to make a wintery welcome mat! It’s so much simpler than I expected it to be!
After the holiday’s the front porch can get a little sad and bare. It’s the middle of winter, it’s cold and the holidays are over. The decorations come down but then what’s left? I created a printable that can easily be used all season long to spruce up the front porch. It can still look inviting and warm despite the cold cold weather!

Supplies:
- Plain coir mat
- Acrylic paint
- Stencil (printable)
- Cardstock
- Cutting board
- Exacto Knife
- Masking tape
- Foam paint brush
- Sealant spray

Print and cut the stencil out of cardstock (much easier to control the cut with a thicker paper) with an exacto knife being very careful NOT to cut yourself.

Once the stencil is cut out, place it and tape it to the mat where you want it.

Take the acrylic paint of choice and dab it on the open stencil area, covering the whole thing but being sure not to dab too much paint so that it doesn’t bleed through. Carefully take the stencil off and touch up areas that were missed or that aren’t as defined as you want them.
Let dry.
Seal with a topcoat/outdoor sealant spray.

And there you have it! I only spent $10.00 for the mat because I had everything else on hand! An inexpensive gift that will be sure to warm up and refresh someone’s front porch this chilly & wintery season!
Until next time,
Rachel
